Our History

THE WIMBERLY Family

Pastor Chris Wimberly was born just outside of Fayetteville, AR and grew up all throughout his elementary and middle-school school years in Amarillo, TX before moving to San Clemente, CA in the 9th grade. Pastor Chris holds a degree in Christian Ministry & Leadership from Vanguard University; he has a passion for faithfully teaching God's Word and a deep love for people (and is always looking for a good dad joke :).

Pastor Chris' wife, Christie, was born and raised in Southern California and grew up riding horses in the beautiful hills of San Juan Capistrano. Christie has always had a love for the Lord and for children.  Christie went to school for Early Child Education and was a preschool teacher for 6 years, and has served in Children's Ministry, Youth Ministry, and Women's Ministry.

THE CALLING

In summer of 2019, the Lord began to open the eyes of Pastor Chris and his wife Christie to plant a new Calvary Chapel style church in the Northwest Austin, Texas Area.  In August of 2020, Chris and Christie took a step of faith, uprooted their family, and moved to Texas to start this church in their living room.  Beginning in Leander, then moving to Liberty Hill,  here we are now in Georgetown... and God gets all the glory!

"'Lord, if it is you, command me to come to you on the water.' He said, 'Come.' So Peter got out of the boat and walked on the water and came to Jesus." (Matthew 14:28-29)

the church name

Selah {say-luh} is a mysterious Hebrew word found 74 times in the Bible. Many scholars believe it means to “Pause & Reflect” or to "Pause & Praise." As we go through life in this fast-paced, information-age, we tend to live on the surface. We constantly drift towards the superficial. But God invites us to pause and think deeply about what matters most.

"Salvation belongs to the Lord; Your blessing be on Your people! Selah" (Psalm 3:8)
